UPSL Announces North Carolina Expansion with Combine Rush

Lincolnton, NC based Club Joins Mid-Atlantic Division for 2020 Fall Season

August 31, 2020 – Los Angeles, CA – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Combine Rush as its newest Division I member.

Based in Lincolnton, NC, Combine Rush will begin UPSL play in the 2020 Fall Season as part of the Southeast Conference Mid-Atlantic North Division. The club will host its UPSL home games at Highland Fields Park (2770 Highland Dr., Lincolnton, NC 28092) in compliance with UPSL National Division I standards.

Jonah Blaize is Founder and President of Charlotte, NC based Combine Academy, operators of Combine Rush, which now will compete exclusively in the UPSL.

Blaize was a college basketball player at Clemson University (NCAA) and is part owner of DC United (MLS) and managing partner of JB Fitzgerald Venture Capital, serving as a business advisor to NBA athletes.

UPSL Mid-Atlantic Division Manager Andy Salandy said, "Combine Academy is developing the next generation of elite athletes in North Carolina and we're excited to welcome Combine Rush to the UPSL's Mid-Atlantic Division. The club has a tremendous front office staff and head coach Bob Reasso has a wealth of NCAA experience. We know Combine Rush will be successful and we look forward to seeing their talented players in the UPSL soon."

Matt Morris serves as Vice President and General Manager for the club. A college basketball teammate of Blaize's at Clemson, Morris was an assistant coach at Wofford College and Clayton State before joining Combine Academy in 2015.

Bob Reasso is Head Coach of Combine Rush. A two-time NCAA National Coach of the Year, Reasso has led teams to 16 NCAA Tournaments, four Final Fours and two National Championship Game appearances. In 2015, his Pfeiffer University team was the undefeated NCAA Division II National Champions. Most recently, Reasso was the director of athletics and head coach of men's and women's football at American University in Cairo, Egypt.

"We are joining the UPSL because we are looking for the best competition for our players. We believe in the way the league is approaching soccer development in this country and we are excited to be a part of it," Reasso said.

About Combine Rush

Combine Rush  is an American Soccer club currently based in Lincolnton, NC, and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. Combine Rush will play in the UPSL's Med-Atlantic Division.

Combine Rush can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).

United Premier Soccer League

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams nationwide. The UPSL is the largest Pro Development League in North America. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated.

UPSL teams are eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the league's affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
