Based in Merced, CA, Merced United FC will begin UPSL play in the 2021 Spring Season as part of the Wild West Division. The club is finalizing its home venue in compliance with UPSL National Division I standards.

UPSL Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "The UPSL continues to experience tremendous growth in Central California and we're excited to welcome Merced United FC to the Wild West Division. Merced United FC recently celebrated its 40th year as a club – a major milestone for any organization – and they're celebrating by creating a UPSL team to compete in one of the country's most competitive Pro Development environments! It's a great story and we wish Merced United FC success."

Merced United FC was founded in 1979 and is operated by its Board of Directors. Daniel Pulido is President, Christopher Bernal is Vice President and Valente Huitron is Adult Coordinator.

"We feel that our UPSL team will be essential to bringing together our community and developing unified support around one team that represents Merced. Our UPSL roster will be our First Team, motivating all players in our organization to continue training and improving until they make it and thereby creating healthy inspiration for personal development," Bernal said.

Home to one of the top youth clubs in Northern California, Merced United FC won the U.S. Club National Championship in 2018.

"Playing in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is a huge motivating factor in joining the UPSL," Pulido said. "Competing against the best in our region using local players and players from our youth ranks is one of our top goals. We want to grow the game in our area while building a community-supported club."
