March 26, 2020 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce its newly-created Tennessee Division. and Doug Kranz as UPSL Tennessee Division Manager.
United Premier Soccer League commissioner Yan Skwara said, "This is a milestone and an opportunity for clubs in Tennessee to come together into a new era. The UPSL Tennessee Division will be led by Doug Kranz, whom we all know well from Memphis City FC. His efforts to drive the game forward in the region align with our goals. The UPSL wants to provide unity for clubs in the Tennessee Division, and we look forward to working with Doug to build out his region moving forward."
Tennessee Division Manager Doug Kranz has resided in Memphis (Tenn.) for more than 25 years and was the co-founder and former President of Memphis City FC. Kranz played the game from youth through high school, and then moved into coaching and eventually club ownership.
"The UPSL is exactly what is needed in this region – there is a great population of real talent and a huge fan base for the game. We only have a small number of teams at the moment, but the big wheel is beginning to turn. I am very excited about the prospect of providing new opportunities to up-and-coming players, and I know the UPSL is the next step to move the game forward. I'm eager to work with players, soccer organizations, and those in the professional ranks however possible. We're going to open up Tennessee, and aim to establish the UPSL Tennessee Division as a go-to soccer hub in the United States," Kranz said.
Kranz carved out his own niche in his adopted hometown, and wants to take the next natural step in his soccer career – giving back.
"With the experience I've gained I welcome the opportunity to again help make another significant push for the growth of the game with the UPSL. I am well-versed in the challenges faced by executive management, coaches and players at the Pro Development level, and hope to be able to pass along my knowledge to existing clubs and any new teams so that we can construct a strong and sustainable Tennessee Division."
New clubs also are expected to join the UPSL Tennessee Division in the near future, with a number of others within the marketplace expressing interest for the 2020 Fall Season.
